Our time in Crete was best captured by our day trip to the mountain sanctuary of Iouktas, an open mountain sanctuary overlooking a fertile valley. All that is left is the stones, but the feeling of being amongst a very important, ancient place is best captured as the mist parted to reveal an unprecedented view across the island. Legend has it that this sanctuary was dedicated to the worship of Zeus but specifically denoted a possible birthplace of the Thunder God. Whether this be true, the modern view is just as spectacular. @Danny
